look up, look down, look out, look around

I was going to complain about work things the past week or so, but in general despite pouring in crazy long hours to finish up some parts of our event database, I think it's actually turning out well. Next week my boss is heading to Italy to recover some instrumentation and I'll be working on an ocean bottom seismology project for the week.

So what I really wanted to remark upon was the very cool sky as I drove out from the mall parking lot. My first impression when I got out from underground was that everything was pink. As I looked up and around, I saw in the west the setting sun against the clouds, high red and purple. A short while later the western sky was a subdued teal, a slim band of low battleship gray clouds ran north to south overhead, and over 60 degrees of the eastern sky was still pink from a high cumulus cloud reflecting the scattered light of the setting sun.

Gorgeous.
